This book was one of the best I have ever read; there was no putting it down, and I finished it in a matter of hours. My appreciation for greek god-related books started after reading the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan as a kid. This genre became one of my favorites, and after finding out that this book existed, I was beyond ecstatic. This book from start to finish was executed perfectly, and I was kept at the edge of my seat the whole way through.
Summary: Patroclus, a king's son, accidentally kills a nobleman's son, which puts him into exile. Then, he travels to another kingdom, where he meets Achilles. Achilles, a powerful demigod, starts to fall in love with him, and both of them were inseparable. Late, they both find themselves going to war, but will they both survive it?

The romance, while unexpected, was very well-developed. I liked how Achilles covered for Patroclus when he was in trouble in the barracks, and how Patroclus went after Achilles during his forced training with Chiron. Furthermore, his role in being a surgeon and caretaker of captured prisoners of war was commendable and it made me root for his survival.
I think the best part of this book is the prophecies. The ability to know what exactly is going on and being unable to do anything about it was quite infuriating. Miller skillfully crafts these prophecies so well that even though you know the end cause, you still want to know what leads up to it. The romance adds so much to the story because it makes Achilles' rage so much more believable after. I was also a fan of the ending. Having Patroclus finally be able to join the underworld with Achilles was the cherry on top — even though he was hated by Achilles' mom, she finally accepts him for who he is. This book, overall, was fantastic.
